Fun and elegant Sydney elopement
This Manly elopement was a quintessence of fun, elegance and deep family values. There are so many things I loved about it! Yevgenia’s short wedding dress with an embroidered globe to symbolise the couple’s love for travel; a water taxi ride with champagne on board and lots of laughs; a walk in the rain with a rainbow below our feet in gorgeous Barangaroo and so many more! Scroll down to enjoy this day with me!
Those of you who plan their elopements and want their day to run effortlessly smooth and tasteful can take away several tips and ideas Yevgenia and Matt adopted for their wedding day.
To kick off the formalities they had their ceremony at Manly Yacht Club registry. It’s a beautiful waterfront venue located right near the wharf overlooking Manly beach and Sydney harbour. Being a non-profit sailing club all their profits go towards upgrading the maintenance of the club, sailing activities for the children and Sailability.
The couple chose to share their wedding day with their parents that live overseas. Matt’s parents traveled from the United states and Yevgenia’s parents travelled from Europe.
Getting to reception
After they were finished with the official part of the day bride changed her high heels for comfy sneakers. What an easy style change and she felt so much more free! Yevgenia and Matt hired a water taxi instead of a car to get from the ceremony location in Manly to their celebratory dinner. We walked down along the boardwalk to the wharf to hop onto a water taxi which took us to Barangaroo. The ride was a dream – we enjoyed harbour views while having champagne and chatting away!
Matt and Yevgenia didn’t have a big reception on their wedding day but booked a private dinner at Sax cafe and lounge bar with their parents. Before they sat down for dinner we had a walk through Barangaroo and used colourful paper throw streamers instead of confetti. They can be used anywhere and it’s a super easy cleanup!
